DIY bottlecap bicycle camera mount

a few months ago i saw this post about a bottlecap camera mount in boingboing and then someone posted a vere inexpensive do it yourself version. i made one of those and recently i wanted to attach a camera to my bike so i came up with this very simple solution using a hose clamp and cutting a shape like the one below from a plastic bottle:

this is all you need, cut out bottle top, hose clamp and DIY bottlecap tripod:

i made two cuts to insert the hose clamp below the bottle top:

and here it is attached to the tube. you could mount it to the handlebar or stem, whichever you find most confortable. i guess it is a good idea to add a plastic washer and some protective piece of rubber on the tube to avoid scratches and minimize vibration. if it is well tight it'll be secure but vibration could be an issue with cameras so use at your own risk.

the same method could be used to attach the camera to a helmet:

    This is really amazing.
I have a video shoot, where
    I'll be following some bikers.

    Its Buffalo and winter, so
    something like this is ideal.

I'm going to give it a try
and will respond with the results next week.

    Thanks! top

was just doing a search looking for something like this... my camera took a tumble last night (with the help of duct tape, it still works), from the looks of things, this would be perfect!

Awesome mod from the boing boing version. top
